WHAT PROMISES SHOULD I MAKE TO MY HUSBAND IN MY WEDDING VOWS? (EXAMPLES INCLUDED)

Young woman writing her wedding vows.

Hey, friend!

Let me know if this is you…

You are a Bride about to get married and want to write your own custom wedding vows, but aren’t sure what kind of promises to include in your vows.

You might be in the thick of wedding planning and this is literally the last thing that you want to be doing right now, especially if you aren’t a wordsmith.

Staring at a blank page and trying to come up with something profound to read in front of an audience and the love of your life can be totally overwhelming at first, but here is a tip that helped me out when writing my own wedding vows and I hope helps you, too!

TIP: Visualize the type of wife you want to be!

Happy young engaged couple laughing outside.

What kind of wife do you seek to be one day?

A patient wife?

Compassionate wife?

Forgiving wife?

Joyful wife?

Courageous wife?

[You fill in the blank.]

Here is an example from my own wedding vows:

“I seek to be the kind of woman who abides in God daily and who believes that there is always more love to give, mercy to grant, peace to experience, courage to summon, strength to rely on, hope to believe in, service to provide, joy to unveil, and purpose within me through the power of Christ.”

Here is a second example from a Bride’s vows that I helped write:

I commit to prioritizing our marriage over being right, to remind myself that we are on the same team and as a team we will handle all of life’s challenges together.”

Wedding vows serve as an anchor for our marriage.

They pull us back when we start to drift.

They remind us of who we desire to be.
